What is the difference between PGDM and MBA?

There is virtually no difference between PGDM and MBA. The institutes/b-schools which are run by Universities or affiliated under any University can run MBA program as a part of the rule by UGC. But, in case of institutes/b-schools which are autonomous by status and are approved by AICTE, Govt. of India can offer PGDM program. As a matter of fact, the leading institutes like IIMs and XLRI etc. can provide PGDM only. The PGDM offered by ODM Business School (OBS) is equivalent to MBA.

What is the structure of the PGDM Program?
The PGDM program offered by ODM Business School (OBS) is a Two Years Full Time Program. There are six trimesters spanning over two-year time. During the first year, students learn the core courses focusing on Marketing, Finance, HRM, Organizational Behaviour, Business Ethics, Statistics, IT and related disciplines. Then, during the second year, students choose courses specifically focusing on the domain of their interest i.e. specialization areas. The Summer Internship takes place between Trimester III and Trimester IV.
What are the specialization areas offered in the PGDM Program?

The specialization areas offered are Marketing, Finance, HRM, and Port, Shipping & Logistics Management (PSL). The institute has the scheme of dual specialization. The specialization areas are normally chosen by the students based on their career interest and passion.

Has the institute got provision for soft skills training?

Yes. OBS has an exclusive wing called Centre for Student Development (CSD), which is engaged in conducting developmental sessions and soft skills training for students on regular basis. The key areas are Communication, Articulation, Confidence Building, Attitude Shaping, Personality Grooming, Team Work, Stress Management, Problem Solving, Time Management, Leadership, Creativity, Persuasion, Critical Thinking, and Decision Making etc.

What are the value additions to the courses taught in PGDM?

The learning mechanism at OBS gives emphasis on value addition to the courses taught through practical approach and industry-oriented pedagogy viz. case discussions, business simulations, field-based projects, role plays etc. The learning architecture also covers corporate talks, alumni talks, seminars and workshops, domain specific capsule programs, industry expert interaction programs, professional certification programs, etc.

What are the provisions by the institute for placement preparation?

The institute works on a dedicated approach for preparing the students for final placement. The preparatory sessions cover Sector Specific Preparations, Company Specific Preparations, Practice Tests for Written Assessment, Mock Group Discussions & Personal Interviews etc.

Has the institute got hostel facility?

The institute has got separate hostel provisions for boys and girls. The residential arrangements are basic but contemporary with Wi-Fi facility. There are provisions for AC and Non-AC rooms.

What is the provision for co-curricular activities?

OBS strongly believes in the concept of learning ‘Beyond Classroom’. The effective learning for a manager-in-making is no more restricted to class room only. There is scope for several co-curricular activities and events which encourage the students to develop critical thinking, problem solving, organizing and decision making skills. There are several student led clubs viz. Marketing Club, HR Club, Finance Club, Cultural Club,, Movie Club, Photography Club, Quiz Club, Music Club etc.
